I frequent several cafes in Berlin, and since I try to keep my caffeine consumption down, I usually order fresh ginger tea. There was one place that did it perfectly, but sadly they changed how they make it. Still, it’s pretty simple, and sometimes I make it at home. I thought I’d share. It involves liberal use of fresh ginger, so it’s not for all the time, but it’s a great treat!
You’ll need:
-A 2 inch/5 cm piece of ginger, cut into small slivers
-A couple of slices of lime
-Honey to taste
Put the ginger and lime in a glass and top up with boiling water. Let it steep for a few minutes, then smush around the ingredients with a spoon. Stir in honey to taste, and enjoy!
Note: you can use the left over ginger in a stir fry, if you want to be thrifty and conserve ingredients.
