Sometimes, a good idea stops at being a good idea. No matter how experienced you are at making things, you’ll always have those times when things just don’t pan out the way you thought. I’ve had vintage fabrics lose their shape, furniture fall apart when I tried to repair it, and the like. We’ve all been there! Recently, I had the brilliant (or, it seemed brilliant) idea of making waterproof fabric by ironing plastic onto fabric (obviously using baking paper as a buffer). Unfortunately, the plastic didn’t melt into the fabric so much as it melted onto it. It was patchy and peeled off very easily. I’ll just chalk it up to a fail, and now I know that it’s one idea I had that didn’t work. I wont be trying it again.
It sounded like a good idea. Don’t you hate it when things work perfectly in your mind and then don’t translate into reality?
Yeah I just thought, “this worked so well in my head!”
